The Rooftop Laguna Beach

So there's this great little gem hidden in the cliffs of Laguna, it's the absolute perfect place to grab some appetizers and drinks in the summer, it's called The Rooftop.
I had heard about it awhile ago and had been meaning to get my butt over to try it out for some time now.
Well friends, that day has finally come and I would like to share it with you.
It was kinda tricky to find at first because it is actually on top of a hotel in Laguna Beach.
There are no signs for it so you just have to invite yourself in and find your way there.
4 flights of stairs and a little confusion later we finally arrived.
And believe me once you finally find it, it does not disappoint.
Well, if panoramic ocean views are your thing...

The place was buzzing with people everywhere, they do not take reservations so we had mentally prepared for a really long hot wait for a table, but to our surprise a lady waved us over who was just leaving, score!
On my self proclaimed mission to find the best margarita in town, I naturally had to order one... you know, for research.
Plus beach, sunshine, and middle of a Saturday all kinda screamed it's 5'oclock somewhere.
With the high price tag and snazzy location I expected it to be one of those small "designer" margaritas you get at those upscale restaurants.
To my surprise, they were not messing around.

Onto the food!
We ordered Chipotle Roasted Shrimp Salsa, which was probably the best thing we tried but I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of it.
By the time I realized this, it didn't look very pretty and half of it had disappeared. Oops!
Lucky for you I remembered for the next 2 rounds.

Bacon Wrapped Dates Stuffed w/ Bleu Cheese topped with Balsamic Reduction Glaze

I highly recommend ordering this if you go, along with their homemade sangria.
Again, they were not messing around, it was served in a goblet.
But hey, I'm not complaining ;)
Onto the next round!

Ahi Poke

So I've recently discovered that I absolutely love Ahi Poke and I've been ordering it pretty much every time I see it on a menu, along with ceviche (but that's for another time).
This stuff was sent from above, I mean I was blown away.
The Tuna was so fresh I'm pretty sure it was swimming in the sea that morning.
Not to mention, the seaweed and sesame teriyaki on top really gave it a tangy kick.
The fried chip creation that came on the side was alright, but if you're trying to be a little healthy, I'd say skip those all together and just eat it with a fork, yes it is that good.
I'm definitely going to be coming back to this place in the near future, there were a lot more tempting things on the menu that I had to pass up because I was just too full and still had to make an appearance in my bikini after on the beach.
well, maybe a little walk first...

  5. I'd never even heard of Ahi Poke before you mentioned it but I just Googled it and it sounds amazing, I really want to try it now. That and ceviche which I also haven't have. Man I'm starting to feel so uncultured! I have a feeling I should probably take a trip to California or somewhere along the coast to try it though, something tells me that a seafood dish like this in Utah wouldn't be that great. ha but hey I'll take any excuse to come to California that I can get!

Also side note but I love your cute hat!

  6. Dude... bacon wrapped dates are AMAZING! They served them at my college graduation dinner and, while I didn't like the sound of the, they blew me away! I'm heading to California in two weeks, I'll try and track this place down!

    1. Yeah Elise, you totally should, it's tricky to find but the cross streets are Cress & Pacific Coast Highway and it is on top of a hotel called Casa Del Camino. Also, anything wrapped in bacon is pretty much a winner in my book!
